I was helped a lot when at college by graphic designers including Chris Tidy (TVC – Tidy Visual Communications in Bushey, Herts), Dennis Fairey Associates, Berkhamsted, Alan Fletcher (Pentagram, London). These people gave me their time in the way of interviews, going through my design portfolio and giving me placements.
We have helped various school and college students over the years, we are very happy to hear from tutors, teachers, students and parents.
We regularly have students from various local schools, many from Parmiters School, Watford. We’ve also had students from many of the schools including Kings Langley School, Watford Boys’ Grammar, Rickmansworth School, Clement Danes in Chorleywood, Queens School in Bushey and St Michael’s School in Watford.
We’ve had a stall at the careers evening at Parmiters School for quite a few years now. Students ask us about careers in graphic design and the creative industries. Edna also does this event with our photography sister company Blue Orange Images.
Talks about graphic design and the design process
I’ve talked to students at West Herts College and Parmiters School about graphic design and the creative process, they’ve then put questions to me afterwards.

Careers open days
We’ve had involvement in careers days with Westfield Community School, in west Watford, Herts. Students signed up to do 20 minute sessions to learn about creativity and graphic design.
Facing the Future
Students in their lower sixth year at Watford Girls’ Grammar School do mock interviews with professionals from various business sectors, this helps them to build interview confidence in the run up to applying for university, college or work. I’ve been involved in this over the last couple of years. It’s been a great experience and very inspiring to hear the stories and enthusiasm of these students.
